The Billy Blues Band was first formed in 2016, by Billy with Michele and Becky blasting their vocals into the band late in 2017, with our first show early in 2018. The band brings a full contemporary blues and blues rock sound to music lovers in Boise and surrounding area fans. The band is also known to throw in classic rock, soul blues, and funk when needed for a particular venue. With the versatility of 8 musicians, the Billy Blues Band plays professional grade music for local upscale venues, festivals, private parties and weddings. The band recently released its first CD, "LIVE" featuring contemporary blues and blues rock. The band loves to share the high energy fun of our music with listeners and dancers. And, dancers make our performances the most fun for us.
As for the musicians in the band, Michele Eastland is a professionally trained and educated musician performing lead vocals and trumpet with her ally in song, Becky Blake. Becky is also professionally trained as a vocalist and actress. Both Michele and Becky have trio bands playing smaller events. Joe Ryan, the lead guitarist and vocalist, came to the band after previously playing with a Tower of Power Tribute band in California. Joe is originally from England he has played with the best of the best musicians over the years. Joe is also currently on the Board of Directors with the Boise Blues Society. Greg George, playing keys and organ, came to the band after performing professionally in Las Vegas as a solo act, also playing in several bands over the years like the rest of the musicians in the Billy Blues Band. Greg is also a vocalist with the band, and plays locally as a solo act. Terry Jones, bassist, along with Manny Santiago, drums, hold down the rhythm section, along with Billy Arnold who plays rhythm guitar and does vocals. Bill "Sparky" Parks, a retired school music teacher, who also plays in several bands, adds to the full sound of the band when a sax player is needed to provide extra depth. Lola was adopted by the band during a period when Paul was not available, with the help of Joe's programming skills.
Billy Arnold, aka "Billy Blues" created the band in 2016 to promote contemporary blues and blues rock. Two of Billy's life passions have been his 40 years as a professional psychologist, and his music. Once retired, music became his sole passion. Billy began playing semi-professionally in 1978 with his musical soulmate; and over the years, the two played a number of clubs in South Texas, ending with two bands, the most successful being "Los Blues Guys". Billy currently serves at the Executive Vice President of the Boise Blues Society. Billy is committed to expanding the influence of the band in a number of different directions, which includes expanding venues and creating original blues and blues rock songs to add to the band's song list. For booking information and a speedy reply, contact Billy by text at 208-724-9001.
We were so excited last night to get to witness the world premiere performance of our BBS Board member Billy Arnold's new band, Billy Blues Band!!
Many of you know these musicians and will remember Becky Blake from when she showed up at a jam session at The Drink a while back and just blew everyone away with her awesome, passionate performances. Michele Eastland is also well known to us for the same reasons, incredible voice, passionate delivery. Put those two together with a great group of musicians like this and you're gonna have an amazing sound.. one our sold-out crowd at the Sapphire was certainly thrilled to hear and has been asking "where are you playing next?"
Stay tuned, we're pretty sure we'll be seeing this group again soon and we'll have more video for you soon as well.
Look for the band's page here and on Facebook and let 'em know how much you enjoy their music. by Ron Gardner
